Toms River Trick or Treat Moved Back to October 30th

TOMS RIVER, NJ – The 84th annual Toms River Fire Co. #1 Halloween parade is set for Tuesday, October 31.

However, with the parade falling on Halloween itself, township officialsl announced a rescheduling: traditional trick-or-treating activities will take place on Monday, October 30.

The decision, made collaboratively by the Township, Toms River Fire Companies, and the Toms River Police Department, aims to allow families to attend the parade and still partake in the beloved trick-or-treating ritual. The parade will commence at 7:00 p.m., starting at Highland Parkway and Main Street, continuing south on Rt. 166, and turning onto Washington Street.

Registration for the parade will be open only on the day and can be done at the Henry Runco Firehouse on Robbins Street, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Toms River Fire Co. #1 has introduced new divisions this year, with regulations such as no walking participants in motorized divisions and no items to be tossed from motorized vehicles. Spectators planning to place chairs can do so on the morning of the parade, ensuring they are safely secured.

Police Chief Mitch Little emphasized safety during trick-or-treating. He advised motorists to be especially cautious on October 30, keeping an eye out for children who might inadvertently enter the road. Parents were encouraged to accompany their young children, use flashlights, stay on sidewalks, and approach only well-lit houses. Though no official curfew is in place, trick-or-treaters are expected to clear the streets by 9:00 p.m.

Prioritizing the safety of residents and children, Chief Little concluded, “The Toms River Police Department wishes everyone a safe and Happy Halloween!”
