Bridgeville man jailed after investigators say a routine stop led to major drug and weapons charges
CAMDEN, Del. — A traffic stop in Kent County led to the discovery of a stolen handgun, suspected heroin and cocaine, resulting in multiple felony charges against a Bridgeville man, Delaware State Police said.
The arrest occurred Tuesday at approximately 5 p.m. when members of the Delaware State Police Kent County Special Investigations Unit were patrolling Berrytown Road near Willow Grove Road in Camden.
According to investigators, detectives observed a Dodge Durango commit a traffic violation and conducted a traffic stop.
The driver was identified as 26-year-old Kurtrell Wynder of Bridgeville.
During a consent search of the vehicle, detectives recovered a loaded 9mm handgun, approximately 3.9 grams of heroin packaged in roughly 130 bags, approximately .02 grams of cocaine, and drug paraphernalia, police said.
A subsequent records check revealed that the handgun had previously been reported stolen to the Virginia Beach Police Department in Virginia.
Wynder was taken to Delaware State Police Troop 3, where he was charged with multiple felony gun and drug offenses.
Police said he was arraigned by a Justice of the Peace and committed to the Delaware Department of Correction on a $33,601 secured bond.
Court records detailing the specific charges were not immediately included in the state police release.
The allegations remain accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
