A man sought in connection with a knife-wielding domestic dispute at a Woodbridge apartment complex has been arrested after evading authorities for nearly two years, police said.
Prince William County police announced that Eduin Misael Flores Gutierrez, 45, was taken into custody on June 3 in Alexandria in connection with an attempted malicious wounding investigation that began in Woodbridge in 2024.
According to authorities, Alexandria City Police arrested Flores Gutierrez, who was subsequently charged with malicious wounding and destruction of property. Court proceedings are pending.
Domestic Dispute Led to Criminal Charges
The investigation stems from an incident reported shortly after 1 a.m. on Aug. 2, 2024, at the Woodbridge Station Apartments in the 1500 block of Constellation Place.
Officers responded to the apartment complex to investigate a domestic dispute and learned that Flores Gutierrez had allegedly forced his way into the residence of an acquaintance.
Police said the suspect then brandished a knife toward a 43-year-old man who was inside the apartment.
Phone Destroyed, Suspect Fled Scene
During the confrontation, Flores Gutierrez allegedly broke the victim’s cellphone before leaving the residence, according to investigators.
Despite a search involving patrol officers and a police K-9 unit, authorities were unable to locate the suspect that night. No injuries were reported during the incident.
Following the investigation, detectives obtained arrest warrants charging Flores Gutierrez in connection with the case.
Arrest Made in Alexandria
Police said multiple attempts to locate the suspect over the following months were unsuccessful.
The search ended on June 3 when Alexandria City Police arrested Flores Gutierrez. Authorities have not released additional details regarding where he was located or the circumstances surrounding the arrest.
His current custody status has not been disclosed.
