Loaded firearm recovered during routine traffic stop
Boston, MA — A routine traffic stop in Dorchester escalated into a firearm arrest after officers discovered a loaded handgun and an active warrant tied to the driver.
The stop occurred around 9:30 p.m. Thursday near Warren Street and Deckard Street. Police said the vehicle was pulled over after it sped through a red light while following a Boston EMS vehicle with emergency lights activated.
Officers identified the driver as 27-year-old Justice Tucker of Roxbury and determined he had an active warrant out of Roxbury District Court for firearm-related offenses.
Tucker was taken into custody at the scene.
A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a Taurus G2C 9mm handgun under the driver’s seat, loaded with 11 rounds of ammunition. Police also found a second magazine containing 10 rounds inside a backpack on the passenger seat.
Tucker is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges including carrying a loaded firearm without a license, carrying a firearm without a license, unlawful possession of ammunition, and unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device.
