Trump-vance inaugural committee announces bibles for swearing-in ceremony

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Trump Vance Inaugural Committee has announced the Bibles that will be used during the swearing-in ceremony for President-elect Donald J. Trump and Vice President-elect J.D. Vance at the 60th Presidential Inauguration.

President-elect Trump will take the oath of office using two Bibles: his personal Bible, gifted to him by his mother in 1955 upon his graduation from Sunday Church Primary School at First Presbyterian Church in Jamaica, New York, and the historic Lincoln Bible. Trump’s personal Bible is a 1953 Revised Standard Version, published by Thomas Nelson and Sons in New York, embossed with his name and signed by church officials.

The Lincoln Bible, first used by President Abraham Lincoln during his 1861 inauguration, will also be used. The burgundy velvet-bound Bible, housed at the Library of Congress, was previously used by President Barack Obama during both of his inaugurations and by Trump during his first inauguration in 2017.

Vice President-elect Vance will use a family Bible passed down from his maternal great-grandmother, Bonnie “Mamaw” Vance. She gifted it to him on September 22, 2003, before he left for Marine Corps basic training. The Bible is a King James Version published by Thomas Nelson and Sons.
