Lee, MA — On June 25, at approximately 4 PM, Lee Police Department officers responded to a reported home invasion and armed robbery at a residence along the Main Street corridor. The response followed an emergency 911 call, with officers finding the victim inside the home upon arrival. The perpetrators had fled the scene before law enforcement’s arrival. Initial investigations suggested the involvement of multiple individuals who appeared to be searching for specific items. One of the perpetrators was known to the victim, indicating the incident was not random. No injuries were reported.
Arrest warrants were issued for two suspects: K’Aunte Carnute of Pittsfield and a juvenile. Carnute was arrested on June 25 and the juvenile on June 26 by the Pittsfield Police Department.
K’Aunte Carnute faces charges of:
- Home Invasion
- Armed Robbery (Firearm)
- Witness Intimidation
On June 27, Carnute was arraigned in Central Berkshire District Court for a probation violation related to his May 6 convictions of Assault and Battery, Assault and Battery on a Family or Household Member, and Possession of a Class D Substance. He will be arraigned for the new charges in Southern Berkshire District Court on July 1. Carnute is currently held without bail in the Berkshire House of Corrections.
The initial response and preliminary investigation were conducted by Sergeant Ben Towne, Officer William Zeininger, and Officer Matthew Tietgens. Lee Police Investigator William Pleu is leading the case, with assistance from the Pittsfield Police Department and the State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office.
