A fire chief and a Harford County Sheriff’s deputy were among the first to arrive. After being informed that individuals were possibly inside, they entered through the front door and rescued one male occupant, who was handed over to EMS. They were then told a second person remained inside.

Firefighters located the second victim inside the home and brought the individual outside for medical treatment. Both victims were later pronounced dead.

Joint investigation underway with sheriff’s office

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. As standard procedure in fatal fires, the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office is conducting a joint investigation with the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.

K9 Blondie and investigators remained on scene throughout the day to assist with fire scene analysis.
