Illegal marijuana operation uncovered at McKnight Road vape shops
Pittsburgh, PA — What appeared to be routine vape shops along one of Allegheny County’s busiest commercial corridors were allegedly operating a large-scale illegal marijuana business, leading to major seizures and an ongoing investigation.
Last Friday, the Allegheny County Police Department Narcotics Unit, working with Ross Township Police, executed search warrants at two registered vape shops on McKnight Road. The locations were Smoke World and Vape in the 4800 block and Powerful Smoke in the 7300 block.
During the searches, detectives seized more than two kilograms of marijuana, thousands of illegal THC- and psilocybin-infused products, and more than $9,000 in cash across both businesses. Investigators said the items recovered pointed to an organized and ongoing illegal sales operation.
Both shops were operating as licensed vape retailers at the time of the investigation. Authorities have not yet announced arrests or filed charges as detectives continue to work with the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office to review the evidence.
Police said the investigation remains active, and additional enforcement action may follow as the case develops.
