Owings warrant arrest leads to suspected fentanyl in vehicle
OWINGS, MD – A wanted man was taken into custody at a gas station in Calvert County last week, but what began as a warrant arrest quickly escalated when deputies allegedly discovered drug paraphernalia containing suspected fentanyl during a search.
On Thursday, January 8, DFC Newton spotted a suspect with an open warrant at the Dash Inn gas station, located at 136 E. Chesapeake Beach Road in Owings. The individual was identified as Kevin Darnell Commodore, 38, of Lusby.
According to officials, Commodore was arrested at the scene without incident. A search of his person and vehicle turned up multiple items of drug paraphernalia with a white powdery residue. Commodore told deputies the substance was fentanyl, authorities said.
He was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center, where he was officially served with the outstanding warrant and hit with two new charges: CDS Possession of Paraphernalia and CDS Possession – Not Marijuana.
The incident is recorded under case number 26-002611.
Authorities have not disclosed the nature of the original warrant or whether additional charges may be pending.
