Wilkes-Barre, PA – A 30-year-old man from Ashley, Pennsylvania was taken into custody on Monday afternoon by the Wilkes-Barre City Police. The arrest occurred following the suspect’s attempt to present false identification to officers.
The incident took place at 2:45 PM near South Main and Academy Streets when patrol officers identified Joel Perez as having an active warrant. The warrant was initially issued by the Dickson City Police Department.
Upon making contact, officers informed Perez of the active warrant. Perez responded by giving a false name but was subsequently arrested.
During the ensuing search after his arrest, officers discovered suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia in Perez’s possession. He was then transported to City Headquarters for further processing.
