Weekend skating fun returns to Winding River before the blizzard hits

Bundle up, hit the ice, and enjoy the last bit of calm before the storm.

TOMS RIVER, NJ – With a major snowstorm expected to roll in Sunday, Toms River Mayor Dan Rodrick wants to remind residents that they still have time to enjoy a weekend of skating and fun at the Winding River Ice Rink before hunkering down at home. The rink, located at 1211 Whitesville Road, will host open skating sessions and its popular DJ Skate events Friday and Saturday nights.

The DJ Skate runs Fridays from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m., featuring music, lights, and a lively atmosphere for skaters of all ages. Regular open skate sessions will also be available throughout the weekend, along with adult open hockey on Friday night.

With the blizzard warning in effect starting Sunday morning, Mayor Rodrick says it’s a good time to enjoy local recreation before the storm arrives. Concession stands at the rink will be open, offering snacks and warm drinks for visitors.
