LANCASTER, PA — A West Lampeter Township man accused of stabbing his father in the neck earlier this month has waived his preliminary hearing, moving the case to the Lancaster County Court of Common Pleas.
Russell Woodrow Adams-Nicholls, 44, faces charges of first-degree attempted murder and aggravated assault in the Dec. 3 incident, during which his 80-year-old father suffered a serious neck wound at a residence on Chatham Way in Lititz. The victim, who arrived at Lancaster General Hospital in a personal vehicle, underwent life-saving surgery after experiencing significant blood loss and injuries that endangered his life.
Police investigators reported finding signs of a violent altercation at the home, including blood in the kitchen and sunroom, an overturned chair, and a clump of hair resembling the victim’s on the kitchen floor. A witness told police that Adams-Nicholls’ behavior earlier that day appeared “manic.”
Adams-Nicholls was arrested the day after the incident at Lancaster General Hospital, where he sought treatment for an injured hand and allegedly made incriminating statements. He remains in Lancaster County Prison on $500,000 bail.
The case will be prosecuted by First Assistant District Attorney Travis Anderson.
