LAKEWOOD, N.J. – A man accused of fleeing police after a reported shooting in Lakewood is now facing multiple criminal charges, including weapons offenses, aggravated assault, drug possession and eluding law enforcement, according to Ocean County Jail records.
Authorities have not yet released an official statement identifying the suspect, but Ocean County Jail records show Timothy David Moore-Jackson, 29, was booked into the Ocean County Jail on Thursday following the incident.
Pursuit followed reported shooting
The incident began shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday after police responded to reports of multiple shots fired in the High Point section of Lakewood.
According to initial reports, the suspect fled the area in a vehicle, leading Lakewood and Toms River police officers on a high-speed chase. During the pursuit, the driver allegedly traveled the wrong way on Route 70 before abandoning the vehicle and fleeing into a wooded area while reportedly armed with a handgun.
Officers from multiple agencies established a perimeter, and after a brief manhunt, the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
No injuries from the reported shooting were initially reported by responding agencies.
Multiple felony charges filed
Ocean County Jail records show Moore-Jackson is being held without bail on two criminal cases filed Thursday.
Among the charges listed are:
- Eluding law enforcement.
- Certain persons not to possess weapons.
- Possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose.
- Aggravated assault causing bodily injury while fleeing.
- Possession of a Schedule I, II, III or IV controlled dangerous substance.
- Manufacturing or distributing less than one-half ounce of heroin or cocaine.
- A separate charge of assault by auto causing bodily injury.
- A second count of eluding law enforcement.
The public jail records do not describe the underlying facts supporting each charge, and authorities have not yet announced which charges are directly connected to the reported Lakewood shooting.
Investigation remains active
The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office has not yet issued a formal press release detailing the incident or announcing the charges.
Because investigators have not publicly outlined the allegations, it remains unclear whether additional charges will be filed or whether others were involved.
