Defendant pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in killing of 35-year-old man

YONKERS, NY — A Yonkers man will spend 18 years in prison after pleading guilty to fatally shooting another man following a dispute, bringing a homicide case that began with a deadly confrontation last summer to a close.

Fidencio Abreu was sentenced Thursday after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in the killing of 35-year-old Francisco Vallejo, according to reports.

Authorities said Abreu fatally shot Vallejo following a dispute.

After the shooting, investigators arrested Abreu several hours later on Ludlow Street in Yonkers.

The shooting occurred in July 2025. Additional details about the dispute were not immediately released.

With the sentencing, Abreu will serve 18 years in state prison for the homicide.
