Wilmington Police Investigate Early Morning Shooting on West 30th Street

WILMINGTON, DE – The Wilmington Police Department is investigating a shooting that took place in the unit block of West 30th Street at approximately 2:22 a.m. Officers found a 14-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital and is currently in stable condition.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and additional details will be made available as they come to light. The Wilmington Police Department’s Victim Services Unit is offering support and information to those affected by the crime. The department’s Youth Response Unit is also available to provide free counseling and services to children and their families who have been exposed to potentially traumatizing events.

Detective Joran Merced is leading the investigation and asked anyone with information about the incident to contact him at 302-576-3637. Information can also be provided to Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333 or through their website at delawarecrimestoppers.org.
