November 8, 2024

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — A 55-year-old man was arrested Wednesday evening after allegedly assaulting a law enforcement officer and attempting to flee while officers attempted to take him into custody on active warrants, police said.

The incident occurred around 8:39 p.m. on November 6 near the intersection of Jeffries Road and Bell Air Road in Woodbridge. According to police, officers located Vincent Edward Dillard, who was wanted on outstanding warrants, and attempted to arrest him. During the arrest, Dillard reportedly resisted, pushing one of the officers before fleeing on foot.

After a brief foot pursuit, officers were able to detain Dillard without further incident. No injuries were reported.

Dillard, who has no fixed address, was charged with assault and battery on a law enforcement officer and obstruction of justice. He is being held without bond, and his court date is pending.
