Woodbridge, VA – A 19-year-old Dumfries man has been arrested in connection with a March shooting in Woodbridge where gunfire was directed at an occupied vehicle, an incident police say is tied to additional reports of nearby homes struck by bullets. The arrest comes weeks after the initial call, as detectives worked to identify the suspect and connect multiple related cases.
Prince William County police said Terry Angelo Clayton Jr. was taken into custody Thursday at his home in Dumfries following an investigation into the March 6 shooting near Rylstone Lane and Sweeney Lane. He faces multiple felony charges, including three counts of attempted malicious wounding and shooting at an occupied vehicle.
The original incident unfolded in the early afternoon when a man and two juveniles were inside a vehicle as a black SUV approached. During the encounter, a suspect exited the SUV and fired multiple rounds toward the vehicle before fleeing. No injuries were reported, though investigators recovered at least one shell casing from the roadway.

Police said the March 6 shooting is believed to be connected to two additional incidents reported the following day, where gunfire struck homes in the 16800 block of Sweeney Lane and the 2500 block of Miranda Court. No injuries were reported in those cases.
