16-year-old charged as adult in violent carjacking of 83-year-old woman in Baltimore

BALTIMORE, Md. — A 16-year-old suspect is facing adult charges after allegedly assaulting and carjacking an 83-year-old woman in Northwest Baltimore, leaving her with multiple injuries. The incident occurred around 2:50 p.m. on November 11 in the 6700 block of Park Heights Avenue.

According to investigators, the elderly victim was retrieving items from her vehicle when two young male suspects approached. One of them forcibly pulled her from the car, throwing her to the ground and injuring her forearms and knees before fleeing in her vehicle.

Police quickly dispatched a description of the stolen vehicle, which was located around 4:30 p.m. in the 2800 block of Rosalind Avenue. Officers apprehended the 16-year-old driver after a brief foot chase, though two additional passengers managed to escape.

After reviewing the suspect’s extensive criminal history, which includes previous arrests for assault, larceny, and auto theft, the State’s Attorney’s Office has opted to charge him as an adult. The teen now faces charges of carjacking, robbery, assault, and auto theft and has been transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility.
