$1M Powerball ticket sold at Pennsylvania Sunoco

A Monroe County convenience store sold a Powerball ticket that came one number short of the jackpot and is now worth $1 million.

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. — One Pennsylvania Lottery player is holding a ticket worth $1 million after a Powerball ticket sold at a Monroe County Sunoco matched all five white balls in Saturday night’s drawing but missed the Powerball.

The Pennsylvania Lottery announced that the winning ticket for the June 20 drawing was purchased at the Sunoco located at 631 North Courtland St. in East Stroudsburg Borough.

The ticket matched the five white balls drawn — 16, 20, 44, 48 and 50 — but did not match the red Powerball number, 15. The prize is worth $1 million before applicable withholding.

The Sunoco that sold the ticket will receive a $5,000 bonus from the Pennsylvania Lottery.

Lottery officials said the winner is not known until the prize is claimed and the ticket is validated. Powerball winners in Pennsylvania have one year from the drawing date to claim their prizes.

More than 28,400 other Pennsylvania Lottery Powerball tickets won prizes of various amounts in Saturday’s drawing, including more than 6,300 tickets purchased with Power Play and more than 3,800 tickets purchased with Double Play.

The Powerball jackpot has since rolled to an estimated annuity value of $312 million, or $141.2 million in cash, for the next drawing.

Pennsylvania Lottery players can purchase Powerball tickets online or at licensed lottery retailers across the state.
