Howell Construction Worker Survives 20-Foot Trench Fall

HOWELL, NJ – Howell Township Police received a 911 call today from workers at a construction site on Church Road, reporting that a 66-year-old employee from Bridgewater fell approximately 20 feet into an open trench, sustaining moderate injuries.

First responders from Howell First Aid, Southard Fire Department, and Howell PD stabilized the worker until he could be safely removed from the trench.

A specialized team from the Asbury Park Fire Department assisted in hoisting the injured worker from the trench, utilizing onsite construction crane equipment.

The worker was then transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center for further care. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has responded to the scene and is conducting an investigation into the worksite accident.
