NYPD launches manhunt for rape suspect in Queens

NEW YORK CITY – The NYPD is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a rape in Queens.

On Sunday, at approximately 5:00 a.m., the 49-year-old female victim was walking home when she was approached by an unknown individual operating a motorized scooter. The individual began a conversation with the victim, who then climbed onto the back of the scooter.

The individual drove the victim to the vicinity of 48 Avenue and 72 Street, where he punched her in the face, causing her head to hit the ground and for her to lose consciousness. The individual then proceeded to rape the victim. As the victim was regaining consciousness, the individual fled the location on the scooter, heading to parts unknown.

The victim was transported to NYC Health and Hospital/Elmhurst, where she was admitted in serious but stable condition. The suspect is described as a male, approximately 6′ 00″ tall, 200 pounds, with a medium complexion and a medium build.
