QUEENS, NY – Errick Persaud, a 24-year-old man from Richmond Hill, was recently charged with manslaughter and driving under the influence, following a vehicular collision that led to a city worker’s death. Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz disclosed that Persaud allegedly crashed his Mercedes-Benz into a New York City Department of Environmental Protection truck last Thursday. A 36-year-old worker inside the truck was fatally injured.

Persaud was arraigned Thursday night on several charges including second-degree manslaughter, assault, vehicular manslaughter, and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence. Queens Criminal Court Judge Scott Dunn has set a return date of July 11. Upon conviction, Persaud could face up to 15 years in prison.
