Phil Murphy Lawyers Seek Legal Fees from School Board That Opposed Parental Lockout

by Conservative Times

TRENTON, NJ – Senate Republican Leader Anthony Bucco criticized Attorney General Matt Platkin’s decision to seek attorney’s fees in a lawsuit against the Hanover School Board, calling the action “ridiculous.”

The board opposed the governor’s mandate that school officials should not have to notify parents of serious changes in status to their children while in public schoool.

The Attorney General filed a motion demanding that the Hanover School Board reinstate a non-mandatory policy and cover all attorney fees and expenses incurred by the state.

“It’s bad enough that the Murphy administration supported these lawsuits after cutting State aid for more than a hundred school districts throughout the State,” Bucco said.

Bucco expressed concern that schools, already struggling with budget cuts, should not face additional financial burdens from lawsuits.

“Schools have it hard enough and should not be faced with these bullying tactics. These lawsuits are doing more to hurt kids’ education than to protect them,” he added.
