SCRANTON, PA – Nicholas Heriberto Vallecillo-Tejeda, 41, has been sentenced to 19 months in prison for illegally re-entering the United States after previous deportations.
U.S. District Court Judge Malachy Mannion imposed the sentence on September 29, following Vallecillo-Tejeda’s conviction in a two-day jury trial in April. United States Attorney Gerard M. Karam stated that Vallecillo-Tejeda had been deported to Honduras twice before, once in November 2008 and again in July 2009.
Vallecillo-Tejeda was arrested in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, on September 5, 2020, by the Shenandoah Police Department. The arrest led to convictions for simple assault and weapons possession.
The case was investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO). Assistant United States Attorneys Robert J. O’Hara and Brian J. Gallagher prosecuted the case.
