PIKESVILLE, MD – Maryland State Police responded to three separate fatal motorcycle crashes within 24 hours over the weekend in Anne Arundel, Queen Anne’s, and Charles counties.
An 18-year-old rider, Joseph Maeda Raiger of Alexandria, Virginia, was pronounced dead at the scene after a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 97 North near Crownsville in Anne Arundel County. Investigators believe Raiger lost control of his 2020 Yamaha motorcycle before crashing in a median.
In Queen Anne’s County, 21-year-old Cody Morris of Grasonville, Maryland, died in a three-vehicle crash on Route 50 West, north of Route 404 in Queenstown. Emergency services pronounced him deceased at the scene. Preliminary investigation suggests Morris, operating a 2005 Yamaha motorcycle, struck an impact attenuator.
Markese Al-Kwonand Nelson, 44, of California, Maryland, died in a crash in Charles County. Emergency services pronounced him dead at the scene after he lost control of his 2016 Harley-Davidson motorcycle and overturned in a center median on southbound Old Leonardtown Road and Homeland Drive in Hughesville.
