ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — Police arrested a 37-year-old man after he allegedly broke into a woman’s home, assaulted her, and fought responding officers, including attempting to disarm them during the arrest. The incident occurred on September 6 on the 1500 block of Ohio Avenue.

Officers responded to a 911 call at 9:38 p.m. reporting that a man was forcibly entering a home. Upon arrival, Officer Keith Jordan identified the suspect as Jerome Younger, who was pointed out by bystanders.

When Officer Jordan attempted to approach, Younger grabbed him and pushed him to the ground, leading to a physical altercation.

During the struggle, Younger attempted to grab Officer Jordan’s firearm and taser. Additional officers arrived on the scene, but Younger continued resisting arrest, at one point grabbing hold of another officer’s rifle. A taser was deployed twice before officers were able to subdue Younger and take him into custody.

According to police, Younger forcibly entered the residence by kicking in the door, assaulted the homeowner, and dragged her outside. The victim, who did not know Younger, was treated on the scene for her injuries.

Younger has been charged with multiple offenses, including burglary, aggravated assault, resisting arrest, and attempting to disarm a law enforcement officer. He is currently being held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
