A Brooklyn man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that took place in Atlantic City on Saturday, according to the Atlantic City Police Department. Edwin Biggs, 51, was taken into custody in Brooklyn on Tuesday by members of the New York Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force.

The shooting occurred around 2:11 p.m. on May 3 in the 1500 block of Baltic Avenue. The victim, a 52-year-old Atlantic City resident, was shot during an altercation with Biggs, who police say is known to the victim. The man was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center by an associate before officers arrived and was treated for a non-life-threatening injury.

Detectives with the Atlantic City Police Violent Crimes Unit identified Biggs as the shooter following an investigation. Authorities allege that a verbal dispute between the two men escalated before Biggs fired a weapon and fled the state.

Biggs faces multiple charges including attempted homicide, three counts of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and being a certain person not permitted to possess a weapon.
