FREEHOLD, N.J. — A Monmouth County Grand Jury has indicted a Millstone Township man in connection with a February incident that resulted in the death of a 19-year-old Asbury Park resident, authorities announced Friday.
Dominic Allen, 23, is charged with second-degree vehicular homicide and second-degree leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident. The charges stem from a Feb. 11 crash in the area of Stratford Avenue between Fisher and Myrtle Avenues in Neptune Township.
Police responded to a 911 call around 4:02 p.m. and found Kyzair Robinson, 19, lying in the roadway with serious injuries. Robinson was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center and died the following day, Feb. 12.
An investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Major Crimes Bureau and the Asbury Park Police Department determined that Robinson had been speaking with Allen through the driver’s side window when Allen drove off. Robinson clung to the vehicle before falling underneath it as Allen fled the scene.
Allen was later apprehended in Orlando, Florida, by the U.S. Marshals Task Force and extradited to New Jersey. He remains held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending court proceedings.
