JERSEY SHORE, N.J. — A wet and breezy Saturday will keep beachgoers and likewise, troublemakers indoors along the Jersey Shore, but forecasters say conditions will improve by Sunday, bringing mild temperatures and mostly sunny skies.

Saturday saw frequent showers and thunderstorms, with an 80% chance of precipitation and wind gusts reaching up to 35 mph. Temperatures peaked near 70 degrees, though the unsettled weather kept many away from boardwalks and beaches.

Rainfall totals ranged from a quarter to half an inch, with localized areas seeing higher amounts during isolated storms. The chance of showers remains through 9 p.m. before skies begin to clear overnight.

Tonight’s low is expected to dip to around 48 degrees, with wind gusts up to 30 mph before calming into the early morning hours.

Clear skies and mild weather ahead

Sunday’s forecast offers relief from the stormy conditions. The National Weather Service predicts mostly sunny skies with a high near 69 degrees. Winds will remain steady from the west at 10 to 15 mph, with gusts reaching 30 mph.

Sunday night will be mostly clear with a low near 49 degrees. Winds will decrease, becoming calm by morning.

Breezy storms give way to clear skies and seasonable temperatures at the Jersey Shore by Sunday.
