37-year-old man fatally shot on Southeast DC street

A 37-year-old man was found shot to death on 16th Street in Southeast DC, and detectives are searching for the killer.

WASHINGTON, DC — A 37-year-old man was fatally shot on a Southeast DC street late Friday morning, prompting a homicide investigation and a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded at approximately 11:22 a.m. on Friday, July 10, to the 1900 block of 16th Street, Southeast, for a reported shooting.

When officers arrived, they found an adult man unconscious, not breathing, and suffering from gunshot wounds.

DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and pronounced the victim dead after determining there were no signs consistent with life.

Police identified the victim as 37-year-old Delonta Phillips of Southeast DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department is asking anyone with information about the shooting to call (202) 727-9099 or text tips to 50411.

Police are offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the homicide.
