$60 million ticket sold at local Ohio shop finally claimed

$60 million Mega Millions ticket claimed months after Van Wert sale

Van Wert, OH — A Mega Millions jackpot ticket that sparked attention across a northwest Ohio community has now been claimed, weeks after it was purchased on St. Patrick’s Day.

The $60 million prize was claimed by the Happy Trails Trust, represented by an attorney, according to Ohio Lottery officials.

The winning ticket was sold at Tyler’s Short Stop on East Main Street in Van Wert and matched all five white balls and the Mega Ball in the March drawing.

The trust selected the lump sum cash option of $30 million. After federal and state tax withholdings totaling 26.75%, the final payout amounts to $21,975,000.

The winning numbers for the drawing were 4, 11, 18, 38, 50, and Mega Ball 24. Lottery officials said the odds of winning the jackpot are approximately 1 in 290 million.

The retailer that sold the ticket will receive a $60,000 bonus.

Mega Millions drawings are held twice weekly.
