BALTIMORE, MD — A 9-year-old girl is in critical condition after an apparent self-inflicted accidental shooting in the 3500 block of Ingleside Avenue on Saturday afternoon.
Northwest District officers arrived at the scene around 3:16 p.m. and found the young victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Medics transported her to an area hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
Investigators have determined the shooting was accidental, but homicide detectives are involved due to the severity of the injuries.

The investigation remains active as authorities work to determine how the firearm was accessed.
