BRENTWOOD, PA — A police pursuit ended tragically yesterday when a suspect was fatally shot by a Brentwood Police officer after a series of events that began with a stolen vehicle report. The incident unfolded on Tuesday, beginning at approximately 5:00 pm along Brownsville Road in South Park, where an Allegheny County Police officer identified and attempted to stop a reported stolen black Nissan Rogue.

After initially stopping, the vehicle fled the scene, leading to a discontinuation of the pursuit by the Allegheny County officer. However, at 5:06 pm, Brentwood Police officers spotted the vehicle on Route 51 and initiated another pursuit. The suspect subsequently rammed a police vehicle on Laveton Road in Brentwood and fled on foot.

The confrontation escalated on Check Way at around 5:09 pm, where the suspect engaged physically with a Brentwood officer during a foot chase. The situation intensified when the officer discovered the suspect was armed. The officer then fired multiple shots, striking the suspect several times. The suspect, an adult male, was transported to a nearby hospital but was pronounced deceased. A firearm was recovered from the suspect at the scene.

Following the incident, the Brentwood Police Department requested the involvement of the Allegheny County Police Department’s Homicide Unit to conduct a thorough investigation into the shooting.
