Cumberland, MD — Early Saturday morning, officers from the Cumberland Police Department responded to a reported assault in the 200 block of Memorial Avenue. The incident occurred at approximately 2:05 a.m. on June 29.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim, who accused Aaron Manning of assault. The victim alleged that Manning struck them in the face and strangled them. Officers observed evidence supporting the victim’s claims and arrested Manning.
Manning, 47, of Cumberland, was transported to the Allegany County Detention Center. During the intake process, officers discovered a quantity of suspected fentanyl concealed on his person. Manning was charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, possession of contraband in a place of confinement, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance other than cannabis. He was taken before a District Court Commissioner and is being held without bond.
