Virginia Man Out on Bail for Attacking Wife Killed Her With a Hammer While on GPS Monitor

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA – A Virginia man has admitted to fatally beating his estranged wife with a hammer while on a GPS monitor awaiting charges for a previous domestic violence incident involving her.

Peter J. Lollobrigido, 52, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder, aggravated malicious wounding, violation of a protective order, abduction by force, and assault and battery of a family member. The charges stem from the fatal attack on Regina Elizabeth Redman, 44, in 2021.

Chief Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney for Loudoun County, Nicole Wittman, emphasized the importance of community safety in the sentencing.

“This sentence achieves that, but it also balances the need of this family after three years for this case to end,” Wittman stated outside the court. She noted that the plea allows the family to avoid the trauma of a trial and autopsy reports, providing them with closure.

Based on the investigation and reports by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, Regina Lollobrigido reported that on July 21, 2021, her estranged husband, Peter Lollobrigido, assaulted her. Mr. Lollobrigido was charged with two counts of abduction, two counts of domestic assault and battery, and strangulation. It was further alleged that on September 19, 2021, Mr. Lollobrigido returned to Regina Lollobrigido’s residence, in violation of a protective order and conditions of his bond, and viciously attacked her. Mr. Lollobrigido was arrested and charged with aggravated malicious wounding, attempted murder, and a misdemeanor violation of a protective order. After Regina Lollobrigido succumbed to her injuries and died, the charge was amended from attempted murder to murder.
