Jersey City Hit-and-Run Leaves Two Seriously Injured

JERSEY CITY, NJ — The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit, in collaboration with the Jersey City Police Department, is actively investigating a hit-and-run incident that resulted in serious injuries to two individuals early Saturday morning.

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez reported that the collision occurred around 12:20 a.m. on June 29, 2024, in the area of Martin Luther King Drive and Wilkinson Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found two victims—a 36-year-old male from East Orange and a 26-year-old female from Newark—both of whom sustained serious injuries. The victims were riding a moped when the collision happened, and the driver of the second vehicle fled the scene.

Both victims were promptly transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where they are currently receiving medical treatment. A preliminary investigation led to the identification and recovery of the second vehicle involved in the collision.

Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation. The community’s cooperation is crucial in ensuring that those responsible are held accountable and that justice is served for the victims.
