Jackson Township Man Faces Murder Charges in Roommate’s Death

JACKSON TOWNSHIP, NJ – Ocean County authorities have charged 38-year-old Louis Gargiso of Jackson Township with murder following the death of his 74-year-old roommate, Robert Sunris.

The incident occurred early in the morning on July 19, when Jackson Township Police were called to a residence on Maple Street due to reports of an unconscious male. Upon arrival, officers found Sunris deceased with a stab wound, and a knife was located near his body.

The Ocean County Medical Examiner confirmed the cause of death as a stab wound and ruled the manner of death as homicide following an autopsy conducted the same day. Investigations by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, along with local police and the county’s crime scene investigators, concluded that Gargiso was responsible for Sunris’s death.

Gargiso was arrested at the scene and has been detained at the Ocean County Jail, awaiting a detention hearing.
