Stafford, VA — The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office has released its daily incident report for August 5, 2024, detailing several significant criminal activities and responses by deputies.
Breaking and Entering: On August 2 at 2:06 p.m., Deputy J.E. Cordes responded to a report of a breaking and entering on Windsor Ridge Court. The homeowner discovered signs of forced entry upon returning from the gym, and an inventory revealed approximately $9,000 worth of items missing. The investigation is currently ongoing.
DUI Arrest: Sergeant E.E. West observed a speeding vehicle tailgating another with its trunk open early on August 3. After a traffic stop on Deacon Road at 1:26 a.m., the driver showed signs of intoxication. Following field sobriety tests, he was charged with DUI, drinking while driving, driving without a license, and following too closely. He is being held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2,000 secured bond.
Larceny Cases: Two incidents of larceny were reported on August 2. The first occurred at 1:28 p.m. on Willow Branch Court, involving a stolen purse from an unattended vehicle. The second incident involved a female suspect at Kohl’s on Stafford Market Place, where surveillance captured her stealing 188 items in a repeated process, resulting in significant loss for the store.
Public Intoxication: Deputy K.W. Suter charged a man with public intoxication at the Holiday Inn Express on Warrenton Road after being flagged down for a disagreement. In a separate incident, the same individual was charged again the following day after being found disrupting traffic on Warrenton Road, visibly intoxicated.
Threats and Obstruction: On August 3 at 9:18 a.m., deputies responded to Firebrick Drive where a male suspect under the influence made threats to burn down a residence and a church. He resisted arrest and was charged with threats to burn a building and obstruction of justice, held without bond at Rappahannock Regional Jail.
