Huntington, New York — The remains of a missing woman, Seikeya Jones, 31, were found stuffed in a suitcase in a wooded area near 320 Nassau Road, authorities said Tuesday. Ronald Schroeder, 31, has been charged with concealment of a human corpse, though the cause of Jones’ death remains under investigation.
Jones, the mother of a 4-year-old boy, had been reported missing on August 16 after she failed to return to her residence in Huntington Station. Police described her as homeless in a recent statement. Her body was discovered in a fetal position, with her wrists and ankles bound, according to prosecutors. Bungee cords were found at the scene.
During Schroeder’s arraignment on Saturday, prosecutors also revealed that he was in possession of date rape drugs. Schroeder, who was arrested at New York City’s Penn Station, was seen covering his face as officers escorted him in handcuffs.
Schroeder faces additional charges, including criminal possession of a controlled substance and an active bench warrant, according to authorities. The investigation into Jones’ death is ongoing.
