Toms River, NJ – David Robert Giordano, a Toms River resident known for a string of highly unusual criminal cases over the past several years, was booked into the Ocean County Jail on Saturday and is being held without bail on new assault-related charges, according to county inmate records.
The 41-year-old is charged under case number W20260002761505 with fourth-degree assault by attempting to purposely or knowingly cause bodily injury and third-degree false imprisonment. The online jail record lists a no-bail status and does not include a projected release date.
New charges follow years of unusual cases
The latest arrest comes after Giordano drew widespread attention in 2021 when authorities accused him of painting a blue line down Hooper Avenue using paint allegedly stolen from Home Depot while driving a bucket truck investigators said had been taken from an impound lot.
Less than a year later, Giordano was charged with causing a false public alarm after investigators said he placed a device consisting of a car battery, power inverter, blue Christmas lights and a bleach bottle in the middle of Hooper Avenue near the Ocean County Courthouse and county administration complex. The incident prompted road closures and a response from the New Jersey State Police Bomb Unit before authorities determined the device was not explosive.
According to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, Giordano was arrested following that investigation after a crash on the Garden State Parkway near Bloomfield. Officers alleged they also found methamphetamine, alprazolam and drug paraphernalia in his possession during the arrest.
Court proceedings ahead
The circumstances surrounding the new assault and false imprisonment charges have not yet been released, and the inmate booking record does not identify an alleged victim or the agency that investigated the case. Additional information is expected to become available through court filings or law enforcement records.
Giordano remains lodged in the Ocean County Jail pending court proceedings. The charges are allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
