TOWNSEND, Del.Delaware State Police have arrested a 40-year-old Middletown man in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred Wednesday night, leaving a 36-year-old man injured, authorities said.

The incident took place on September 11, 2024, around 10:22 p.m. at a Valero gas station on Dupont Parkway. According to police, a Chrysler PT Cruiser and a Ford Ranger were driving along Dupont Parkway before pulling into the gas station’s parking lot. The driver of the Ford, identified as Thomas Watson, blocked the PT Cruiser, exited his vehicle, and began repeatedly punching the other car. Watson then broke the driver’s side window of the PT Cruiser, prompting the 36-year-old driver to exit, at which point the two men began fighting.

After several minutes, the fight ended, and both men returned to their vehicles. As Watson fled the scene, the victim realized he had been stabbed and was assisted by a bystander until emergency medical services arrived.

Police later located Watson and his vehicle on South Broad Street in Middletown. He was taken into custody without incident. Investigators determined that Watson and the victim were acquaintances, which contributed to the altercation.

Watson was charged with second-degree assault, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, and criminal mischief. He was arraigned and is being held at Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $50,000 secured bond.
