Two critically injured in assault in Crafton; suspect in custody

CRAFTON, PA—County Police have filed charges against a man following a violent assault on two individuals in Crafton.

At 8:52 a.m. on Sunday, Crafton Borough Police responded to a call about an assault at a residence on Oregon Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found an adult male and an adult female severely injured inside the home. Both victims were taken to a local hospital and are currently in critical condition.

Witnesses at the scene reported seeing an adult male seated on the front porch, who then moved to the rear of the property. Officers identified this individual as 36-year-old Michael Provenzano, the son of the victims, and took him into custody.

The Allegheny County Police Department’s Homicide Unit initiated an investigation. Detectives determined through witness interviews and evidence that Provenzano was responsible for the assault.

Provenzano has been charged with two counts of attempted homicide and two counts of aggravated assault. He has been detained at the Allegheny County Jail, awaiting preliminary arraignment.

No further details have been provided by the authorities at this time.
