Man Shot Multiple Times as Gunman Opens Fire Near Dulles Airport

Herndon, Va. – A man sustained multiple gunshot wounds at the Worldgate Shopping Centre on Sunday night.

Herndon Police responded to the shopping mall’s parking lot around 7:40 p.m. for a report of a victim with gunshot wounds to the upper body and lower extremities. Officers provided immediate aid until the man was transported to a nearby hospital, where he underwent surgery and is now in stable condition.

An officer patrolling the area heard the gunshots and observed a vehicle speeding out of the shopping center. The officer pursued the vehicle on the Dulles Toll Road but lost sight of it.

At this time, police do not have a description of the suspect or the vehicle involved and have not confirmed whether the suspect and victim were acquainted. A press release issued Monday stated that no suspect or vehicle information would be released while the investigation is ongoing.

The shopping mall is located just minutes from Dulles International Airport and is adjacent to the Washington Dulles Marriott Suites.

This investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to call the D.C. Metro Police Department at (202) 727-9099 or send a text to 50411.
