Police blotter: cumberland police arrest multiple suspects — Police lights.

Cumberland, MD* – On Saturday, officers from the Cumberland Police Department made two arrests in separate incidents related to trespassing and theft.

At 9:16 AM, police responded to UPMC Western Maryland where they encountered William Socks, who was refusing to leave the property after being asked by security. Despite multiple requests from the officers, Socks refused to comply and was subsequently arrested and taken to police headquarters. He received a criminal citation and was released pending trial.

Later that morning, at 10:57 AM, officers were called to N. Mechanic Street regarding someone tampering with a traffic signal pole. The suspect, identified again as Socks, was found to have caused damage and was re-arrested and taken to Central Booking. Socks was seen by a District Court Commissioner and released on a $1,000 unsecured bond. He is charged with trespass, malicious destruction of property, and disorderly conduct.

In a separate incident at 7:39 PM, police responded to a theft report at a business on Virginia Avenue. Rick Lindsley Michel, the suspect, was identified after allegedly stealing merchandise. Following the investigation, Michel, 34, of Cumberland, was issued a criminal summons.
