Wapakoneta lottery player turns a $1 million Cashword ticket into a life-changing win

WAPAKONETA, OH — An Ohio Lottery player has become a millionaire after winning the $1 million top prize on the $1,000,000 Cashword scratch-off ticket.

The winning ticket was purchased at Wapak Marathon, located at 1003 Defiance Street in Wapakoneta. The winner opted for the $500,000 cash payout instead of the annuity, and after state and federal taxes totaling 28 percent, he will take home approximately $360,000.

The $1,000,000 Cashword scratch-off game offers players a chance at the life-changing top prize through a word puzzle format. The winner joins the growing list of Ohio Lottery players who have struck big in recent months.

The Ohio Lottery highlights that proceeds from ticket sales have contributed more than $32 billion to education since 1974, benefiting schools across the state.
