Cherokee High School briefly placed on ‘shelter in place’ amid police search

by Breaking Local News Report

EVESHAM TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Cherokee High School was temporarily placed under a “shelter in place” status on Monday while police responded to an incident in a nearby neighborhood, authorities said.

The Evesham Township Police Department reported that the shelter-in-place procedure was initiated out of an abundance of caution as officers conducted a search for an individual connected to the incident.

After determining there was no threat to students or staff, the shelter-in-place order was lifted. Police are now assisting with an orderly dismissal from the school.

Authorities did not release further details regarding the nature of the nearby incident or the individual involved.

The Evesham Township Police Department continues to monitor the situation and assured the community that safety remains a priority.
