Police recover another firearm in ongoing shooting investigation
WASHINGTON, D.C. — A second suspect has been arrested in connection with a Northwest DC shooting that investigators say involved an exchange of gunfire and left property damaged, police announced.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting occurred at approximately 1:20 p.m. on July 21 in the 1700 block of Euclid Street, Northwest DC.
When officers arrived, they found evidence of a shooting but no victims.
Police said officers searching the area initially arrested one suspect and recovered two firearms. Detectives determined the suspect had been involved in an exchange of gunfire with other unidentified individuals, resulting in property damage.
That suspect, 19-year-old Damari Bryant of Northeast DC, was previously charged with assault with a dangerous weapon (gun), felony destruction of property, felony receiving stolen property, carrying a pistol without a license, possession of an unregistered firearm and ammunition, possession of a large-capacity ammunition feeding device, and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
On Aug. 6, Third District officers familiar with the investigation located and arrested a second suspect in the same area where the shooting occurred.
Police identified the second suspect as 19-year-old Emmanuel Gerald Grey of Southeast DC.
According to MPD, officers recovered a firearm during Grey’s arrest.
Grey was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon (gun), carrying a pistol without a license, possession of an unregistered firearm and ammunition, and possession of a large-capacity ammunition feeding device.
The investigation remains ongoing.
