CARROLLTON, VA – A Virginia Lottery player’s disappointment quickly turned into celebration when a mistakenly issued ticket led to a $2 million jackpot.

Kelly Lindsay had intended to buy her favorite scratcher but instead received a Money Blitz ticket at the Race Way Carrollton, located at 13028 Carrollton Boulevard. Scratching it in the parking lot, she discovered she had won the game’s top prize.

Lindsay chose the one-time cash option of $1,250,000 before taxes rather than annual payments over 30 years. She is the second person to claim a top prize in Money Blitz, leaving one remaining unclaimed $2 million prize. The odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 1,142,400, while the overall odds of winning any prize in the game are 1 in 3.29.

The Virginia Lottery directs all profits to K-12 education, with Isle of Wight County receiving over $3.7 million in Lottery funds last fiscal year. Statewide, the Lottery contributed more than $934 million to education in Fiscal Year 2024.
