WASHINGTON, DC — A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a January armed carjacking that unfolded at a gas station on New Jersey Avenue in Northwest.

The incident occurred on January 23 around 8:24 p.m., when a victim was pumping gas in the 1700 block of New Jersey Avenue, Northwest. Police said three suspects approached, assaulted the victim, and pointed a gun while demanding personal property and the victim’s vehicle. The victim complied, and the suspects fled in the stolen car.

Following an investigation by detectives, Marquis Alston of Northeast DC was arrested Thursday on a DC Superior Court warrant. He has been charged with Armed Carjacking.

The arrest was made more than two months after the incident, which remains under investigation as authorities continue to search for the additional suspects involved.

Anyone with information related to this crime is urged to contact police at (202) 727-9099 or send anonymous tips via text to 50411. A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in violent crimes.
