$50 ticket explodes into $1M payday for lucky Ohio shopper

AKRON, OH – A $1 million prize-winning scratch-off ticket was sold in Akron, delivering a massive payout to a fortunate Ohio Lottery player who purchased a VIP Millions ticket.

The winning ticket was bought at More than a Convenient Mart, located at 666 Carnegie Avenue. The player selected the $500,000 lump sum cash option and will receive approximately $360,000 after mandatory federal and state tax withholdings.

VIP Millions is a $50 scratch-off game with a top prize of $40,000 annually for 25 years. The cash option allows winners to collect $500,000 upfront instead of yearly payments.

As of March 31, 41 top prizes remain available in the VIP Millions game, making it one of the most lucrative instant ticket offerings in the state.

The Ohio Lottery has continued to support education across the state, contributing more than $33 billion to schools and public programs since 1974.

No further details about the winner have been disclosed.
